thanks for a memorable day!

"Whistler Eco-Challenge July 25th and 27th 2011"
Orienteering was created as a Swiss military exercise at the turn of the century, orienteering was originally designed to train soldiers on the skills of navigation. It quickly evolved into a popular cross-country event throughout Europe and North America. In its traditional form runners equipped with compass and map navigated their way through a series of control points on a timed course. The first to navigate their way to the finish line was the event winner. It challenges team members to utilize many different types of information to form an overall strategy, which is efficient and best suited to their individual talents.

Coast Mountain Guides has created Whistler Eco Challenge 2011 based on the core foundation of Orienteering. Whistler Eco Challenge 2011 is the ultimate multi sports event to ever take place in the Whistler Region. Geared specifically toward the novice, intermediate and advance adventurers. All our Programs and Events are designed with "leave no trace" in mind and are accessible to everyone. The "WEC 2011" will be divided in three main courses: Novice course, Intermediate course, and Advance Alpine course. They will be located in around Lost Lake Park. The Advance Alpine course will start at Lost Lake but will winded up high on Blackcomb Mountain, all comprising the Whistler Eco Challenge 2010 courses. In teams of two (except for the Advance course), the participants will be judged on the accuracy of information gathered, number of check points completed and speed. Decision-making, teamwork, physical fitness, mental fitness and speed are required to excel.
