Join the team from Prior Skis & Snowboards for an ultimate backcountry retreat. Lead by professionnal guides and helped by the firendly hospitality of the staff at the Callaghan Lodge, this is the event of the year. Epic powder skiing and snowboarding, learn to travel safely in the backcountry, evening socials and not to mention feasting on some of the best food in the region.
It's all about the snow: The difference in Callaghan Country is that the Howe Sound air mass needs to climb 2350 metres elevation and cross 7 kms. of permanent snowfield before dropping its now super cooled, fluffy abundance down on the wind protected Callaghan Valley. The result is an average annual snowpack of 680cm and an assured long ski season with colder snow. Ideal conditions for alpine ski tourring and splitboarding. An hour or two of climbing can lead to those stellar, smooth runs through deep powder that only the few who know the magic pull of backcountry touring ever have the chance to appreciate. There are numerous popular runs and treks based out of Callaghan Country’s backcountry lodge that can give some of the best days or partial days of backcountry touring.
