Rock Climbing Level 4 – Rescue

We often don’t want to think about if, but accidents happen and being ready to deal with different emergency situations while at the crag or on a remote multi-pitch climb is essential and should be required by all climbing partners. This course is focused on preparing you with the necessary ropes skills to undertake many types of self-rescue scenarios.

Learning Outcome: 

  • Review of knots, belay and rappel tehniques
  • Gear review
  • Rescue rappels
  • How to Escape the belay
  • Ascending ropes
  • Lower and raising systems using ratchets, clutches and other techniques to keep you safe
  • Rescue pulley systems
  • Rescue systems and exit strategies

Terrain: Well maintained trails
Difficulty: Moderate to challenging
Ratio: 6 to 1
Prerequisites: Good fitness level

Gear

Good hiking and climbing shoes and personal equipment required
Harness and helmet available if needed

Rescue gear provided for practice and scenarios
